Orbea Occam

 

Formed in 1840, Orbea is one of the oldest Bicycle Companies in Europe.  Making most of their bikes in their Spanish and Portuguese factories, they are renowned for their high-quality bikes that can be customized with their MyO program.  Orbea have been exceptionally thorough in detailing their Maintenance Recommendations. Overall, they suggest the following:-

• Taking the frame to pieces to inspect all pivot bearings once every year or after 125 hours of using the bike (whichever is soonest).  (Pro tip: Use Strava to monitor the usage of your bike! We do that here!

•    The above is recommended for what can be considered "normal" use and "normal" conditions.  So, for heavier use, like for competitions/ training for competitions or for repeated rides in adverse weather conditions then inspection should take place sooner i.e. every 75 hours of use or once every 6 months (whichever comes soonest).

•    This is in addition to a quicker inspection of your bike prior to every ride.

•    If there is play or any signs of obstruction in the bearings so that they don't run smoothly, then the bearings should be replaced as a matter of urgency.

Normal Use: Every 9 -12 months

Heavy Use or Competitive Pursuits: Every 3 - 6 months
