FAQs
Why should I change my Frame Pivot Bearings?
Frame Bearings Kits are a fantastic way to ensure the performance, longevity and safety of your bicycle.
Depending on how frequently you ride (and the conditions you, normally, ride in), over time, your bearings can become worn and lead to some play and/ or concerning noises. Allowing these issues to develop or a failure to rectify them quickly can lead to problems that require lengthy and expensive repairs and can jeopardise the integrity of your frame. Ultimately, checking and replacing your Frame Pivot Bearings on a regular basis is a preventative measure but it, also, keeps your suspension running smoothly leading to an enhanced ride quality and performance that feels as if your frame is brand-spanking-new.
How often should I change my Frame Pivot Bearings?
The frequency in which you should change your Pivot Bearings is dependant upon how you use your bike and the conditions in which you ride in. If you notice wear or play then your bearings should be replaced as soon as possible. Out-with this, each bicycle manufacturer, usually, recommends a frequency in which to check and replace the bearings on your bike. Where they do not provide this, the details given will be based on Industry standards.
Max Complement Bearings or Standard Bearings?
We recommend opting for Max complement bearings, wherever possible, as they are designed to take more load; meaning that they are stronger and more durable than standard bearings. Max complement bearings do not have a race in order for them to fit more bearings inside. This is compared to standard bearings that contain a race but cannot fit as many bearings. The higher the number of bearings inside, the greater the load the bearing can withstand.
Not all bike brands use Max bearings and some may use a mixture of both depending on the pivot. Therefore, standard bearings are suitable but they may not last as long as a Max complement bearing would.
Do I have to buy a full Kit?
We recommend a full Kit for regular maintenance of your frame. However, if you're experiencing wear in only one area of your frame, then we do sell Single Bearings that will meet your needs. These are available to view here.
I'm unsure if this is the correct Kit for my bike, can you help?
